Centinela Traditional Arts can weave to your specifications on a limited basis. Custom orders are priced according to the work involved, yarn availability and weaver availability. Please call 505-351-2180 to inquire about custom orders.
Custom Rugs
One of Centinela's unique abilities is to produce handwoven custom wool rugs to the specific desires of our customers. You can specify the design or choose one of our portfolio designs, specify colors, and specify rug size up to twelve feet wide, and any length desired.
When a rug commission request comes in, we estimate the price based on square footage of the design, design density, and yarn to be used. Upon estimate approval, we take a deposit to start the process.
We place a new warp on the loom for each large commission. Swatches of the desired colors are closely matched for the yarn to be used in the textile. Each finished weaving must meet the complete approval of Irvin Trujillo before it leaves the shop.
Weaving costs vary, and are priced based on tapestry work and shuttle work per square foot.
In addition to the weaving costs, other costs include:
- Design layout (price TBD and applicable on some pieces)
- Warping
- Finishing (depending on size and finish desired)
- Yarn costs: factory-spun or handspun; commercial dyed, acid dyed, or natural dyed
Shipping costs are determined for each piece after the piece is woven.
