Blanket Weight Weavings, Rug Weight Weavings and Felt
The Rio Grande weaving tradition was, historically, predominantly involved in blanket production. It was only after decades of production of Chimayo weavings did people turn to making rugs. This involved using thicker weft yarns and less closely spaced warp threads, as seen in the picture above. We continue to produce many more blanket weight creations than rugs. More recently we have been exhibiting hand made felted wool.
