Tree of Life
This design has been woven for many years here in Chimayo. Most likely it came up from Mexico, but since it is such universal symbolism, it's hard to say just how it came to be woven here. Most of the Tree of Life pieces we do here are small, and the weaver who generally enjoys weaving these the most is Gloria Montoya. She has taken to occasionally weaving pieces that are very much in the same spirit, but don't have trees. We include these here, even if they aren't quite really a Tree of Life.
