In an effort to illustrate the meaning of the word Collaboration , I wound up collaborating with my daughter on this piece. It was her design, one that she had drawn for me many years prior to my weaving this. It consists of separate elements that are different from each other and separated in space, but work together to make a pleasing whole. This type of handwoven wool blanket is commonly used as a wall hanging, or draped over the back of a couch. The yarn is handspun churro wool, some of it from here at La Centinela. This piece has natural as a background color and undyed grays and browns as well as red included in its design. It uses hand dyed yarns, which means that these yarns were dyed by us using synthetic dyes, usually a washfast acid dye. It was woven by Lisa Trujillo who is a spinner and weaver with more than thirty years of weaving in the Chimayo and Rio Grande tradition, Lisa has won many awards at Spanish Market. It measures approximately 48 by 72 inches.
