This type of handwoven wool blanket is commonly used as a wall hanging, or draped over the back of a couch. These warm and sturdy blankets are woven with a rare wool grown and spun in Northern New Mexico, and its pattern is a traditional blanket motif updated in natural, undyed shades. This piece has natural as a background color and natural undyed churro colors included in its design. It uses undyed yarns, which means that these yarns are not dyed at all, but are the natural color of the sheep who grew the wool. It was woven by Heritage Blankets which is a group of weavers, many of whom come from nearby traditional weaving families, in partnership with local social service organizations working to train and employ them. It measures approximately 48 by 72 inches.
