Chimayoweavers/Centinela Traditional Arts Since 1982

Blanket Weight Weaving

This weaving tradition is over 400 years old. The original blankets were only stripes (called Rio Grandes) but different styles evolved over the years after the Bazan brothers were hired by the governor in this area to teach the weavers here tapestry. After that, the Saltillo, Vallero, and Chimayo styles show up, and those, with the Rio Grande and now modern and pictorial designs, is the complete the set of styles you'll find in our shop.  We primarily produce blanket weight weavings for sale. People use standard sized for blankets, wall hangings, pillow covers, and furniture embellishments.
